Non-NHS services

All Non-NHS services attract a fee such as Medical Insurance forms, Sickness Benefit Forms, Fit to Travel forms, Medication to Take Abroad Confirmation, Holiday Cancellation Forms, Pre-Employment Medicals, Sports Medicals, HGV Medicals etc.

They are carried out by the Doctors as a private service to patients at their discretion. Please enquire for fee rates.

 

 

 

Test Results

Please call 01785 828 916 between 14:00-15.30 to enquire about your test results as our reception staff will have more time to deal with your request between these times.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

 

EMiS Access is an online website that allows patients to book/view/cancel their appointments online. As well as order and monitor the progress of their repeat prescriptions. The service is an increasingly popular method of accessing the surgery due to its 24hr availability. Please note that any prescriptions ordered out of surgery hours will be ready 48hrs from the next time we are open.

To access the website you can click on any of the blue EMiS Access symbols found on our website.

If you are interested in using this service then you will need to attend the surgery and ask one our receptionists to register. Due to the access to sensitive information we ask all patients to bring in a form of photographic identification when registering.

Measuring your Blood Pressure

Many of you may not be aware that we have a automatic blood pressure (BP) machine in the surgery for patients to self monitor their BP free of charge. Monitoring your blood pressure on a regular basis has many benefits for you and also helps your GP to manage your conditions better. The machine is located next to the pharmacy and outside the health promotion room.

The benefits of self monitoring;

• Encourage improved control - By monitoring your BP on a regular basis you will be in a better position to act upon any changes that may occur.
• Help track your treatment - See the progress of new medications for yourself, remember to feedback your results to your GP.
• Help make an early diagnosis of high blood pressure - Some of us do not realise we have high blood pressure until it's too late. Taking a bit of time to check your BP could help identify a problem so that you get the appropriate treatment as soon as possible.
• Check if your blood pressure is different outside the doctor's office - We all know that seeing the GP can add a little stress so comparing results in and out of the consultation room will give you a better idea of your blood pressure reading.

 

If you do have your BP tested then please pass the result on to your GP. There is a box by the BP machine for depositing your result. Keeping your doctor informed will help them make the appropriate care choices for you.

NHS Health Checks

The NHS Health Checks programme is a national programme which aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. Everyone between the ages of 40 and 74, who has not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions are welcome to have a health check to assess their risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes and will be given support and advice to help them reduce or manage that risk.

 

Eligible Population

• Aged 40 to 74 years

Patients with the following conditions are NOT eligible

• Coronary Heart Disease
• Stroke
• Diabetes
• Chronic Kidney Disease (stage 3 to 5)
• Hypertension
• Atrial Fibrillation
• Transient Ischaemic Attack
• Familial Hypercholesterolaemia
• Heart Failure
• Peripheral Arterial Disease
• Being Prescribed Statins

Also, any patient that has received a Cardiovascular risk assessment in the past 5 years or any patients found to with a high risk of Cardiovascular disease will not be eligible.
